I was out with my favorite little girl, my sweet Adeline. It was a lovely fall day and we had spent 3 hours puttering around our small town, sitting with statues, thrifting, and collecting sea glass. Seeing the world through her 3-year-old eyes, playing with her, and not being in a hurry, I couldn't imagine a more joy-filled day.
One of the stores had treats set out and Addie choose a multi-colored sucker. She carried that thing around town for over 2 hours before she decided to sit on a bench by the ocean and enjoy it.All was perfect.
Until...
She asked me to unwrap the sucker. And...
I dropped her sucker.
Smash onto the cement it went breaking into half little pieces. My eyes got big, I gasped, "Oh my gosh, Addie, I'm so sorry!"
I was afraid to look at her, imagine this one bursting into tears.
She look down at the sucker and took in the scene. Then she looked up at me and said, "Let's skip!"
Let's skip.
Let's skip?
Let's skip!
So we skipped; of course, we skipped and our beautiful day continued on.
When a 3-year-old can teach you a lesson, it's a great day.
I get not every issue can be dealt with with a 'Let's skip!' kind of attitude but many minor annoyances occurring from discourteous drivers, long holds, and missing items, for example, could probably be dismissed relatively easily and lead to a much nicer day.
Anyway, I'm going to try it. I'd write more about this, but I'm going to go skip! Steph : )
Speaking of little ones, if you have any in your life or want to donate to a Holiday Hamper, please consider supporting children's literacy project with your purchase of my project (zero dollars in my pocket, fyi) by purchasing a copy or two of Noah & the Try-ceratops. Enjoy the video below!
Unedited audience feedback, you can't please everyone but I aspire to please most; I can do this for your group, too...
