Finding the Gift in Holiday Chaos

Where in the world is Steph?

Finding the Gift in Holiday Chaos

You're busy - I'll be brief today...

  1. You don't have to do it all - practice lagom (just the right enough) - know when enough is enough.
  2. Remember others for whom this is a very tough/sad/difficult time of year - if you have the capacity, reach out to them.
  3. Begin with the end in mind - at the end of the season, what will you be proud to look back on? Put your focus on that, now.
  4. Let others off the hook  - who would appreciate your permission to be released of a duty or expectation?
  5. Have fun - I got to try stilts this holiday season - what a blast. Amidst the chaos - where will you take the opportunity to have fun?
  6. Name the invisible wins - there will be many non-social media worthy wins... a well-placed nap, a solo walk, or possibly being on the other side of a locked bathroom door.
  7. Wabi-Sabi your season - Embrace the imperfection - like the year my turkey wasn't thawed and we ordered KFC - we still talk about that year!

Remember, it's a season, not a performance.

Merry Everything & Happy Always, Steph

On the Nightstand - An Immense World — Ed Yong

Science writer Ed Yong explores the idea of umwelt—a German word describing the unique sensory world each organism lives in. Animals don’t just see the world differently than we do; many experience entirely different realities shaped by vibration, scent, sound, heat, and electrical signals.

The “immense world” is all around us—rich, busy, and mostly invisible.

It reminded me that just because we can’t perceive something doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. A beautiful nudge toward curiosity, humility, and wonder.

What might we be missing?
