Bestie and I are at it again – this time we decided to do a 22 Day Challenge to honour 2022.
The idea is to do action items for 22 days in a row. Personally, I love the chemical rush of checking things off a list, so I made myself a whiteboard chart. Bestie doesn’t care about that, she just checks it off in her mind. No right, no wrong!
Why do The 22 Challenge? It’s fun. It pushes me. It highlights my priorities. It inspires me. It changes up my routine. It makes me feel proud to accomplish what I set out to do. It gives me chances for success every day. It bonds me with my Bestie. I grow a little more on the inside. I may acquire some new good habits. I like it!
My list encompasses many different areas of life: physical, social, intellectual, etc. You might want to do a more challenging thing for 22 days or you may want to do a few easier things for 22 days – hey, it’s your project you can do whatever you want!
Personally, I’m on day 18 of many little things and when this set is done I’m going to do 1 big thing (well, it’s big to me), Bestie and I are going to try 22 minutes of meditation for 22 days in a row. Gulp, I say to that.
Here is a sample list, it’s just meant to give you some ideas if you are interested in challenging yourself in 2022!
Physical – 22 lunges, 22 squats, 22 burpees, 22 pushups, 22 up and down planks.
Read – In my perfect world is 15 minutes, preferably not on a screen, preferably not work-related. It doesn’t always happen
Learn – Every day the thing to do is learn a little something new! I’m almost at 700 days in a row of learning Espanol on Duolingo – it may be a bit of an addiction and I should probably speak a lot better than I do, but for the first time in my life, I love learning a language! The Blinkist app is also a fav – I listen to synopsis’ of non-fiction books while I am getting ready in the morning.
Couple Time/Relationships – A phone call, a text, a card game, a walk, a movie, a meal, just a little something to move a relationship forward and let someone special know that they are special to me.
Meditation – Two minutes, 5 minutes, 22 minutes, morning time, bedtime, or bathroom time – do what you can, when you can. Something is better than nothing and it’s alllll good!
Outside – I want to go outside, no matter the weather, every day. I might miss one day but never, ever two. #CarryYourOwnWeather
Clean/Organize – a drawer, a shelf, a closet, one little thing at least each day (I know it sounds funny, but I feel so good when I do this!)
Kitchen – make veggie burgers for the freezer, cookies to share with the neighbors, chia pudding, deviled eggs, one little thing (typically since this is The Hub’s domain)
Write – anything, just write, it doesn’t even have to be good, just exercise that writing muscle (this seems to be my hardest one and the last to check off each day – interesting because I love words. )
Music – Play a few songs or try a new chord on the guitar, uke, or harmonica, sing in the shower, dance to 3 songs – makes me happy!
Art – Make something for my Littles, paint or draw a card for a friend, rock painting, doodle. I’m really ‘not good’ but it’s strangely relaxing.
Yoga – At least 10 minutes, hopefully, longer, sometimes Bestie and I meet on Zoom, have a chat and then yoga together, it’s a great way to end the day – especially with Namaste Chad (he will be in an upcoming post).
So again, I’m not saying do these things, the list is just meant to give you some ideas and take some pressure off of those year-long ‘resolutions’. Pick 1 or 2 or a few and/or throw in your own ideas and commit to that for 22 days! #YouGotThis
Take this idea – make it your own and let me know what you are willing to commit to.
Cheering for you, as always, Steph
